and more snow....

My "prize" ring I won on Heidi Swapp's site (courtesy of Liz Eaton) arrived today! I love it and it looks really fabulous paired with my anniversary band....

The snow started falling before school even let out for the day. My son's best friend got dropped off since his school got out earlier than ours so he went with me to pick the kids up. We ran by the grocery store to get the supplies for Libby's Valentine's party, doubtful that we would even get to have it. Jim took the boys to see the movie, Percy Jackson and the Olympian: The Lightning Thief. In the meantime, the snow continued to pour from the sky and Libby did end up calling off her party. My girlz game night which was also scheduled to meet tonight had to be canceled, too.
The plus side to all this is that at least we will be home together and can watch the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. Just waiting patiently for the fellas to make it back from the theater.

Evil Girl Scouts....

Blaming myself for ordering all these boxes of cookies is just out of the question. Blaming myself for eating more than a recommended serving at one time is also out of the question. It is all those evil little girl scouts fault for me blowing my low-carb eating plan! For some reason, every student at dance that I ordered cookies from brought them to me today. I had eaten sensibly, came home and ate a sensible dinner and then proceeded to eat 2 of the Caramel Delights, 3 of the Lemon, and 3 of the Thin Mints (not so sensible). I have lost all self control!
I love Girl Scout cookies! Who doesn't? I sold them as a girl and have been a firm supporter/buyer of them as an adult. I miss the old names though- Samoas, Tagalongs, and there are even a couple that I don't think they carry any longer...
I guess by now many of you are dealing with this very same dilemma. My suggestion is to just eat/share the box all in one sitting and be done with it. You'll not only finish the box and remove temptation, you'll also get the disappointment in yourself all over with in one fell swoop!

Enjoy those cookies and remember that life is too short for self-hatred and celery sticks!

All my love...

These two are what it's ALL about! My son, Tripp, age 11, and my daughter, Libby, age 12.
I was making some cards for school today (thank you/Valentine photo cards for some of our supporters) and when I saw how cute the Valentine cards were at the Walmart photo site I decided that instead of having the kids make cards for family this year we would do a photo card instead. So, that meant I had to take a few pictures of the kids tonight. They were pretty cooperative and I am sure that any of you who have tried to take planned photos of children or animals know all to well that is almost impossible to do!
I won't send these to all the friends and family who get Christmas cards, but I think the grandparents will appreciate an unexpected picture of the kids. Hope you are feeling the love from those around you this Valentine's week!

Meeting & Dinner (Tuesday Picture of the day)

Parent-Teacher council meetings are a fun night that the teachers and parents at our school actually look forward to. Our meetings are the second Tuesday night of each month and we have gotten into the habit of going out for dinner after the meetings because they are usually pretty short and sweet. The definite attendees are always me and our school's office manager. Other teachers and PTC members join us from time to time. Last night we went to a new restaurant in our town, Iannucci's. It was wonderful! This is a family-owned and operated business that opened it's original restaurant in South Asheville many years ago and has now opened a second restaurant in Hendersonville. We are happy to welcome them to town. I am shown here with our 2nd grade teacher-a dear family friend!

What's In Your Purse?

I really did mean to take a cute picture of all of my Valentine cards with their suckers attached that I was giving to my students at the dance studio today...they turned out so cute. But, I forgot my camera. Then when I got home from work this evening I got sucked into a couple of projects, followed by a couple of tv shows and here it is 11:24 and no picture! Then, I remembered this cute idea off a scrapbook site....the picture of the contents of your purse. Cute, easy, and a real glimpse of "me".

So, here is what's in the bag: (the mono store site is under construction)
a big pak of Orbit Sweet mint gum
a cute little green room recycyled notebook 4x6 size-Medallion available at Target
a pad of checks without a cover
6 receipts (Walgreens, Ingles grocery store,Cracker Barrel, Mean Mr. Mustards, Janitzios, Bloomfields of Flat Rock)
3 shopping lists
1random note of information
a grocery store coupon
pocket posh crosswords book
3 mini Kleenex out of wrapper
an emtpy Stevia packet
an envelope with discount cards I'm selling for school
a gum wrapper
a bird sticker (?)
my favorite Wish Lollia handcream (smells like heaven) available at anthropologie
my Natural Life coin purse
a Cross pen (gift from my son)
a 6x8 green room notebook (Floral) available at Target
small Vera Bradley makeup bag (old pattern, the link is for a new one I like)
old Kate Spade sunglasses (out of their case-bad girl!)

Wow! Lots of stuff...
Have you cleaned out your purse lately?

Bonne Nuit!

Super Bowl

It's funny how even if you don't know who is playing in the Super Bowl until the day before- that you still end up watching this game! It's such a tradition, like Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade or fireworks on the 4th of July. It's just something so All-American, even with The Who playing, you cannot help but "celebrate". We pulled for the Saints and it was great that they won. Especially since it was their first win ever. Congrats!
